Day 4: Is there someone in your life you need to forgive?

Matthew 6:14-15,

“For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.”

What is the difference between the bible and No Such Thing as Normal by Byron Gordon or Speak Your Truth: Connecting With Your Inner Truth and Learning to Find Your Voice by Fearne Cotton? If your answer is that the bible is the word of God and the other two are the word of man, you would be correct. If your answer is not much, you may also be correct. How can “not much” be a correct answer?

The bible, without the power of God, is simply words written on paper. That is why some Christians can have a testimony of 30 years in the church and their lives look exactly the same as it did when they first began. If your only goal is to Live Your Best Life by Carla Caudwell, self-help may be the better option. Self-help often has five to seven easy steps or has unlocked the secret formula that you can complete in five minutes a day. As compared to the bible which offers the not-so-secret formula which takes a lifetime to complete to become a fully devoted disciple of Christ.

Christians who know the not-so-secret formal will tell you when James 1:22 tells us, But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves,” it is the “doing” that makes them grow, and when they stopped “doing,” the growing stopped.

You want to see your life change? You want to see the power of God? Be a doer of the word. Start with forgiveness—it’s a life changer.

Proverbs 17:9
“Whoever covers an offense seeks love, but he who repeats a matter separates close friends.”

Action: Go and forgive.
