I Am: The Light of the World
Ask: What are these different lights used for?
There are some things that are really hard to do unless we have light to help us. Can you imagine walking through the forest at night without a flashlight? You would probably stumble or fall and you might even get lost. We need a light to see where we are going and what we’re doing.
In John chapter 8, Jesus tells us that He is the light of the world.

Like a flashlight in a dark forest helps us to see the things around us, Jesus helps us to see and understand the things that are most important in life. Things like trusting Him, turning away from our sin, doing what is right and loving other people. Jesus helps us to see what God is doing in us, around us and through us. While we certainly don’t want to stumble in the dark forest, our relationship with Jesus and with the people around us is much more important.
When we follow Jesus, He promises to be the light for us to see. So, the question is, are you going to follow Jesus today? Ask Him to help you!
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for sending Jesus as the light. Help me to follow him so that I can see what you are doing and what is most important. In Jesus’ name, amen.
