Emmanuel has a legion level baseball teams, the Halos. It is directed by Jayson Shaw who is a long-time member of Emmanuel. As with all ministries of Emmanuel, our goal through baseball is to share the gospel of Jesus and honor Him in all we do. You can find them on Facebook here.

The program currently known as the Halos began in 2002 as the Billings Lobos and was directed and coached by Hal Anderson who retired from the program after the 2018 season. The program began to offer kids who had no other option of playing high caliber baseball. In the early days, if a player did not make the Legion program or could not make the commitment of time or money the Lobos was the only option. We began as a traveling team and played about 45 games on the road that first year. We played a combination of Legion and Babe Ruth teams in Montana and Wyoming. The team stayed overnight in gyms and that season won 37 games. The next season the Lobos played a 55 game season and all the games were against Legion teams. This was the season the Lobos won their first Legion tournaments, 3 to be exact. This also was the first year the program played their first home games and because a part of Emmanuel Baptist Church’s youth group. Since then and until 2009 the Lobos played between 50 and 60 games against Legions teams. The team also was known as the team that gave sports Bibles to their opponents.

When the Lobos won the last NBC State Title in July of 2008, they retired the Lobo legacy with a 305 and 98 record. In 2009, the Lobos changed their name and became the Emmanuel Halos. In the first season, the Halos had a 30 and 20 record and won the Fellowship of Christian Athletes first State Tournament.

The program exists to teach players excellent baseball techniques and values taught in Biblical studies. The program places high value on morals and ethics which has attracted many players who have consistent belief systems. The program also tries to assist capable players who desire to play on the next level achieve consideration from college programs.

Since 2003, the program has seen many of our graduates go on to play college baseball either receiving a scholarship or walking on and ultimately making the team.
